Apple and Samsung in legal battle

Apple has issued legal proceedings in California against one of its component suppliers, Samsung. The court filing on April 15 alleges that several of the company’s Android phones and tablets, including the Nexus S, Epic 4G, Galaxy S 4G, and the Galaxy Tab, infringe on Apple’s intellectual property.

Sony chief slip hints at eight-megapixel iPhone 5 camera

Sony CEO, Sir Howard Stringer set tongues wagging over the weekend with a seemingly throw away comment about Apple during an interview.

In conversation with the Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg at an event in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Stringer said that ‘It always puzzles me,’ adding ‘Why would I make Apple the best camera?’

News Corporation’s iPad magazine app, The Daily, which debuted Apple’s new in-app subscriptions service, will launch in the UK in the next three months, according to the company’s Chief Digital Officer, Jonathan Miller. Speaking at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit, Miller told attendees that The Daily would be available in western Europe ‘not too long from now.’ When pressed further, he conceded that that meant the first half of this year.

Adobe has released version 2 of its iOS application, Photoshop Express. The new version features an in-app purchase option called Camera Pack.

Camera Pack has three features; Reduce Noise, Self Timer, and Auto Review. The sensor on the iPhone is notoriously prone to noise and the Reduce Noise feature is designed to combat that by smoothing images.

Apple has released the latest version of iOS for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. It includes the ability to use an iPhone 4 as a wifi access point for devices which don’t have a 3G connection. In addition, iTunes Home Sharing allows an iTunes library stored on a Mac or TV to be accessed on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on the same wireless network.
