Former Apple CEO John Sculley has resurfaced as a lead investor in Gizmoz, a Web start-up that aims to revolutionise distribution of content over the Internet.

The company's product, called a Gizmo, is a 'container' that can hold any digital media. Users are able to create their own Gizmoz, or download them. Once created, a Gizmo sits on a users desktop, with the content of it being updated automatically. This means that, whenever a user opens up the Gizmo, the latest

content is already there, and doesn't have to be downloaded.

Because Gizmoz can contain more than one piece of content, it allows content developers to create Gizmoz along themes, so that, for example, a football club could create a Gizmo that included player profiles, and video highlights from a match. If the club changed this content, it would automatically be distributed to every user that had that Gizmo on their desktop.

Gizmoz work with the Active Desktop feature of Windows, but can also be used with any Web page. This means users can create their own home page that features their favourite Gizmoz.

Since leaving Apple seven years ago, Sculley has held several positions, including CEO of Live Picture and CEO of Spectrum Communications. At present, he is devoting his time to Sculley Brothers, a venture capitalist firm that provides financial backing for Internet companies.
