Apple's green goals point to iMac revamp

Apple is highly likely to unveil revamped iMacs and a new 17in MacBook Pro before the end of 2008, if only to meet its own environmental commitments.
Chief executive Steve Jobs said last week that Apple is on course to eliminate all PVC and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from Apple products by the end of 2008.
The current iMac models pass on the first target, but still contain some BFRs on the circuit board.
Apple is also likely to replace the iMacs’ LCD displays with lower-power LED panels.
The 17in MacBook Pro seems likely to be replaced with a new model based on the 15in version introduced last week. AppleInsider claims that the new 17in will not be ready until early next year, though that conflicts with Jobs’ assurances.
