Automator gets 100 new actions 12:50PM, Tuesday 7th October 2008
Automator fans now have more than 100 new actions at their disposal with Automated Workflows’ release of eight new actions collections.

Actions are the building blocks of Automator workflows, enabling the creation of complex mini-applications and plugins without every having to write a line of code.

OS X ships with a powerful, albeit somewhat limited selection, which is then supplemented when developers release applications with their own set of actions - Pixelmator, Microsoft

Office and BBEdit for example.

Automated Workflows’ custom actions are available both for system-wide tasks and for specific applications. There are packs for the Finder, TextEdit, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, FileMaker Pro and QuarkXpress, as well as an Automator pack, which includes actions for automating functions in Safari and Mail as well as tools common to all, such as the clipboard, system preferences, key commands and Automator itself.

The Action Packs are available for $14.99 each, or $79.99 for the lot, from automatedworkflows.com.

More Automator actions, many of them free, are available from Apple’s Automator downloads page.
