HyperCard takes to the Web 10:26AM, Monday 9th June 2008
HyperCard is back. The almost legendary Mac programming system is now on the Web.

The idea is simple. Upload a HyperCard stack to the TileStack website and it is converted it into a working web application.

Currently accepting applications to join the beta test, TileStack does have one working stack to try - the Tiles Out! game - and a demonstration video.

HyperCard was introduced by Apple in 1987 and provided a method for building data-based applications using a graphical interface rather than code. The resultant programs - or stacks - were not dissimilar to what we now know as websites, though the data was stored locally on the user's machine.

Apple discontinued HyperCard support with the introduction of OS X, though it will continue to run in Classic mode.
