London design studio shows off neat Little Printer

Smart phones may have freed many of us from having to stuff our wallets and pockets with scraps of paper, but there’s still a place in our lives for an old-fashioned to-do list or a printout of the day’s appointments. At least that’s the view of London studio, Berg Design which announced its Little Printer today.

The early history of the Mac by those who were there

Last week, the Churchill Club, a Silicon Valley forum which attracts some of the biggest names in the technology industry as speakers, gathered together half a dozen people who played a pivotal role in the creation of the Mac.

Between them Larry Tesler, Andy Hertzfeld, and Bill Atkinson provided the inspiration and then the software for the first Mac. Regis McKenna marketed it and hired Chiat Day to produce the Big Brother advert in 1984 (Chiat Day and McKenna were also responsible for the following year’s disastrous Lemmings ad, but we won’t go there).

iPad soaring or iPad screwed: two different views on the same data

Figures to be published later this week by Kantar Worldpanel ComTec show that 73% of UK tablet owners have an iPad. They also show that half of those who intend to buy a tablet in the next 12 months say they will choose an iPad, with fewer than 7% choosing any of the alternatives and a sizeable 28% saying they are undecided.
