Apple unveils new MobileMe calendar

by Simon Aughton on July 8, 2010

Apple has unveiled a new look for the MobileMe Calendar — and released an update to the iDisk app.

The new Calendar app sports redesigned day, week, and month views as well as a new list view, all of which Apple says will load faster thanks to behind-the-scenes performance improvements.

It also provides new sharing features, allowing pre-determined others to create and edit events on shared calendars. Alternatively you can share read-only calendars for general public consumption.

MobileMe subscribers can sign up to use the Calendar beta at me.com/calendar, but should be aware that there are significant issues with the beta that Apple has yet to resolve.

Apple has also update the iDisk app, which provides access to a MobileMe iDisk from an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

In addition to support for iOS 4 and multitasking, it provides iPad-specific optimisations for the larger screen and for opening documents in other apps — PDFs in iBooks, for example.

I’d quite like them to fix the existing problems with the newly released webmail, before turning their attention to f**ing up the other components of MobileMe online!
