Apple adds music purchasing and easy configuration to Apple TV

Apple is planning to re-introduce music purchasing to Apple TV, according to AppleInsider, which cites the latest beta version of the Apple TV software.

In the current version of the software, clicking on the Music app allows users to stream music from an iTunes library on a Mac or PC, but in the beta it points to an iTunes Store-like interface.

With the beta, users can preview songs, browse artists, and make single track or album purchases. Much of the functionality from the OS X version of the store is brought over to the big screen, though some tweaks were made to the user interface. For example, buying a song will bring up a verification pop-up before allowing users to proceed.

Once purchased, tracks and albums can be streamed to Apple TV or downloaded to another device.

Apple is also planning to make it easier to configure Apple TV. The system allows iPhone iPod touch, or iPad owners to touch their Apple TV with their device and transfer wifi settings from it to the Apple TV, saving the pain of adding settings manually using the Apple TV remote or a Bluetooth keyboard.
