Tiny Wings iconThe fifth anniversary of Apple’s iOS App Store isn’t until next week, but there are signs already that Apple is preparing something special to mark it.

The company designed and printed this poster and sent it to a specially selected handful of lucky people, highlighting that in the five years since its launch, the Store has seen 50 billion apps downloaded, resulting in $10 billion worth of payments to developers.

It has also made several notable apps free on the Store. While there hasn’t been an announcement, several reports over the weekend pointed out that games such as the wonderful Little Wings, the stunning Badland, and the Unreal engine-powered Infinity Blade II are currently free. While Traktor DJ, which normally costs £15 is also free.

It’s well-worth pointing your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad at the Store and downloading them while they’re free.

We’ll update this story with more free apps as we find them.
