by Kenny Hemphill on October 20, 2011

Apple employees gathered at the company’s Cupertino HQ yesterday to celebrate the life of co-founder and former CEO, Steve Jobs.

The company made no public announcement about the event but posted a single photograph on its website.

Reports in the US media said that the remembrance was led by CEO Tim Cook and that Apple directors AL Gore and Bill Campbell also spoke. Norah Jones and Coldplay performed music at the event and a video of Apple’s famous Think Different ‘Crazy Ones’ advert with Jobs narrating was played.

Poignantly, the event was closed by Randy Newman performing ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’, the theme from Pixar’s Toy Story.

During a conference call following the release of Apple’s full-year financial results on Tuesday, Cook paid tribute to Jobs, calling him ‘a visionary, a genius, and an amazing human being.’ Cook said that Apple had received over a million emails of condolence, many of which are now displayed on Apple’s website.
