Apple has announced that the iPhone 4S sold over four million handsets in three days. It also said that 25 million people are now using iOS 5, meaning that 21 million have upgraded from iOS since Wednesday. 20 million people have also signed up for iCloud.
‘iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than four million sold in its first weekend—the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days,’ said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. ‘iPhone 4S is a hit with customers around the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever.’
The success of the iPhone 4S in its first weekend, in comparison to its predecessors, is in part due to the fact that it became available in several large markets, including the US, UK, Japan, and Germany, on the same day, and also because it was available on more networks at launch than its predecessors.
