Adobe has announced six new mobile apps and an online service it calls Creative Cloud. The most eye-catching of the new apps is Photoshop Touch which the company describes as ‘a groundbreaking app that brings the legendary creative and image-editing power of Photoshop to tablet devices for the first time.’
Photoshop Touch support layers, allows users to make basic edits, and apply effects like blur, glow, drop shadow, and stylised looks such as Old Photocopy and Glass.
There’s also a new tool, Scribble Selection. This allows users t draw, using their finger or a stylus, on an area of an image they want to delete and an area they want to keep. Tapping Extract removes the area marked for deletion.
Images can be added to a layer from a device’s camera, from Facebook, or from a Google search. Files can be synced with a desktop version of Photoshop using Creative Cloud.
‘Adobe Touch Apps deliver high-impact creative expression to anyone who has a tablet,’ said Kevin Lynch, chief technology officer, Adobe. ‘With Adobe imaging magic coming to tablet devices, new apps like Photoshop Touch will open your mind about the potential of the touch interface for creativity and demonstrate that tablets are an essential part of anyone’s creative arsenal.’
Adobe also announced; Collage, a tool for inspiring creativity and generating ideas; Debut, a presentation tool for Photoshop and Illustrator work; Ideas, a vector drawing tool; Kuler, a tool for generating and choosing colour themes; and Proto, a wire framing and pro typing tool for mobile apps and websites.
iOs versions of the apps are expected to be available in early 2012.
