Steve Jobs: ‘We have something great to announce today’

by Kenny Hemphill on March 2, 2011

Steve Jobs has just taken the stage at Apple’s special event in San Francisco, to huge applause from the audience.

He began by announcing that Random House is bringing over 170,000 books to iBooks. Apple, he said, now has 200 million accounts for iTunes, iBooks, and the App Store. Other milestones are the 100 millionth iPhone which shipped recently and $2bn paid to app developers.

Apple sold 15 million iPads in April – December, more than all the tablet PCs ever sold, and worth $9.5 billion in revenue. It gave Apple 90% share of the market, said Jobs.
