Pixelmator is $1 million app

by Simon Aughton on January 26, 2011

Pixelmator has grossed $1 million since it went on sale in the Mac App Store just three weeks ago.

The image editing software benefited from heavy promotion by Apple on the store’s front page, as well as the developer’s decision to cut the price to £17.99.

The developer also encouraged existing users to re-buy the application from the App Store, in return for a free upgrade to version 2 when it’s released.

“Thanks to the Mac App Store, more people than ever are choosing to download Pixelmator,” said Pixelmator’s Saulius Dailide. “Such an amazing success feels fantastic.”
