iWork.com gets Keynote playback, new sharing options

by Simon Aughton on January 11, 2011

Apple has added a handful of new features to the iWork.com beta, including the ability to play Keynote presentations.

Playback supports video and audio, hyperlinks, 15 different animations and nine builds; and presentations uploaded from Keynote to iWork.com can be viewed in Safari on a Mac or PC, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

Files uploaded to iWork.com can now be shared with specified people or made public to be viewed by everyone. You can also make files private, allowing you to use iWork.com simply to archive files for your own reference or recovery on any computer.

Apple introduced iWork.com with the release of iWork ’09 two years ago. The service, currently a free beta, lets Pages, Numbers and Keynote users upload files in various formats for viewing on the web. Support for iOS devices was added last year.
