Yahoo has denied that it is closing Delicious, saying that it plans to find a new home for the social bookmarking service.
Plans to ‘sunset’ the service were revealed in a leaked slide last week, when Yahoo made no effort to deny that the leak was genuine.
But in a blog post on Friday, the company insisted that the service and its many millions of saved and tagged bookmarks are safe.
‘No, we are not shutting down Delicious,’ Yahoo said.
‘While we have determined that there is not a strategic fit at Yahoo!, we believe there is a ideal home for Delicious outside of the company where it can be resourced to the level where it can be competitive.’
The post adds that the company is still maintaing the service, contrary to anecdotal reports that the entire Delicious team has been made redundant.
