As of now, we’re 30% bigger to bring you even more Mac coverage – enjoy!
Pinch us. We’re thicker. After months of planning, commissioning, writing and editing, we’re proud to bring you the first of our bigger issues of MacUser, now 30% larger at the same price as before.
Excuse me the rah-rah-rahs just this once, as we’re excited about the changes we’ve made to the UK’s longest-running Mac magazine. So, what can you expect from the new, larger MacUser?
For starters, we’ve expanded our expert coverage of the Mac platform with six new fortnightly columns for professionals. Long-time contributor Keith Martin will be writing about design for print, with indepth coverage of InDesign, QuarkXPress, and the tips and techniques you need to have at your fingertips to produce professional printed output on time and on budget. Alex Watson will take a fortnightly look at the future of the Mac, kicking off in this issue by exploring the remarkable A4 processor inside the iPad. Tom Gorham is showing you how to get the most out of iWork in an office environment, Will Head covers Mac-based video production, and producer Hollin Jones is writing about professional audio production from end to end.
For beginners too, we have a host of new features, including a switchers’ guide for Windows users moving to the Mac, a regular beginners’ guide to some of the platform’s key applications – kicking off this issue with a look at Places in Apple’s Aperture – and we’re bringing back our guide to the complete Mac range, helping first-time buyers to make the right choice when picking their new computer.
We’ve also expanded our news and reviews sections, and introduced a dedicated section for iPhone and iPod accessories, so that not only will they be easier to find, but we’ll be able to devote more of our main reviews pages to core Mac products. Overall, it means our coverage will be broader than ever before and, because we publish every fortnight, you can be sure to read the latest reviews here first.
We’re proud of our new content and excited to be bringing them to you, starting today. At the same time though, we recognise that not everyone likes change, and that’s why we’ve been careful to retain all the regular MacUser features. Howard Oakley is still answering your technical questions at the back of the magazine, and Showcase continues to highlight the hottest designers working on the Mac – now on four pages, rather than two, to give their work the space it needs to look its best.
We hope you like the results. As ever, do let us know – good or bad – by dropping a line to mailbox@macuser.co.uk.
