Apple slims keyboard range

by Simon Aughton on December 3, 2010

Apple appears to have dropped the wired version of its compact keyboard.

US websites are reporting that the keyboard is no longer available online nor in Apple retail stores. Apple’s UK website continues to offer it for sale, though a waiting time of three–four months suggests it isn’t making any.

Apple now has just two keyboard options — the extended, wired model with numeric keyboard and the wireless, laptop-style version.

Apple has also made two small changes to the Universal Dock package, which provides a convenient way to charge and sync iPods and iPhones.

The package now includes a USB power adapter and cable, previously sold separately, and the new, aluminium Apple Remote. Consequently the price has gone up to £49.
