Apple kills Steve Jobs doll

by Simon Aughton on November 25, 2010

Apple has forced a gadget blog to stop selling a Steve Jobs ‘action figure’.

The company’s lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to MIC Gadget, noting that the figure violates Californian law that protects image rights.

‘Unauthorized use of a person’s name and/or likeness constitutes a violation of California Civil Code Section 3344, which prohibits the use of any person’s name, photograph or likeness in a product without that person’s prior consent,” the letter says.

MIC promptly withdrew the figure from sale and apologised.

‘So, all Apple fanboys, you are not going to get this phenomenal figure anymore. MIC gadget hereby apologizes to Steve Jobs, Apple Inc, and their law firm for any inconvenience caused,’ said Chris Chang, MIC blogger.
