Apple preps iTunes for iOS update

Apple has updated iTunes to prepare for the imminent release of iOS 4.2.

iTunes 10.1 includes support for for AirPlay, the replacement for AirTunes which in addition to streaming music to AirPort Express, will also stream video to the new Apple TV.

It will also provides sync support for the iOS 4.2 software for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, when that becomes available.

Apple has also added an option to remove Ping from the left-hand menu.

The update also includes several security fixes, of which Apple has yet to provide details.

iTunes 10.1 is available via Software Update.
