Adobe Auditions Mac beta

by Simon Aughton on November 9, 2010

Adobe has released a public beta of the first Mac incarnation of Audition, its pro audio recording, mixing, editing and mastering software.

Audition provides an alternative to Adobe’s Soundbooth application, which ships as part of CS5, by providing a greater degree of control for audio professionals.

Adobe describes it as a flexible audio editing environment for fine tuning single files or creating multi-track mixes that includes sophisticated audio sweetening tools to enable users to quickly transform problem recordings into usable soundtracks.

Key features include a fast new audio playback engine, native multi-channel support for 5.1 surround sound for professional results, noise reduction and restoration capabilities, and new audio effects including de-hummer, de-esser, and volume leveler.

“We are fortunate to have a strong community of audio professionals who have helped us shape Adobe Audition into an incredible application,” said Jim Guerard, vice president and general manager for dynamic media, Adobe. “Adobe Audition for the Mac is another example of Adobe delivering on our mission to provide industry leading, cross-platform content creation tools for creative professionals.”

The Adobe Audition for the Mac beta is available from adobe.com/go/audition_labs.
