Apple has released an update to iPhoto ’11 to address a bug that could delete user’s photos.
In addition to the update, the company has provided detailed instructions for updating iPhoto libraries — and a warning not to Force Quit the upgrade process, however long it is taking.
“Before an existing iPhoto library can be used with iPhoto ’11 it must be upgraded. This process occurs when you open your library with iPhoto ’11 for the first time. In extremely rare cases, if you do not follow the recommendations below during the upgrade process you may experience data loss,” says the tech note. “Keep in mind that fully upgrading a very large library can take a long time, even up to an hour or more.”
The note ges on to explain what to do in the event that iPhoto unexpectedly quits (crashes) during the upgrade process.
iPhoto ’11 9.0.1 is available via Software Update.
