Adobe releases HTML5 video widget

by Simon Aughton on October 22, 2010

Adobe has released a free widget that enables designers to add HTML5 video to websites while ensuring it can be played in web browsers that do not support the new <video> tag.

The widget achieved this by automatically shifting the video content to Flash Player when the HTML5 tag is not supported.

Code generated from the widget plays video in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera, automatically selecting the best possible player using a range of video codecs. The player is also completely customisable with CSS.

The HTML5 Video Player widget, is available through the Adobe Widget Browser and works with or without Dreamweaver CS5.
