Apple fixes Snow Leopard sharing flaw

by Simon Aughton on September 21, 2010

Apple has released a security update to address a vulnerability when sharing files and folders in Snow Leopard.

The flaw allowed a remote attacker with knowledge of an account name to bypass the password validation and access AFP shared folders. The risk to most users is minimal, given that Apple does not enable file sharing by default

Security Update 2010-006 is available for Mac OS X v10.6.4 and Mac OS X Server v10.6.4 via Software Update.
