Adobe has released a preview version of a 64-bit Flash Player, codenamed Square.
Square provides native 64-bit support on OS X, Windows and Linux, as well as hardware accelerated rendering in the new Internet Explorer 9 beta for Windows.
“We have made this preview available so that users can test existing content and new platforms for compatibility and stability,” Adobe wrote in tech note. “We don’t expect it to be as stable as a final release version of Flash Player. Use caution when installing Flash Player ‘Square’ on production machines.
Adobe released released a hardware-accelerated Flash for Mac OS X, though it warned yesterday of a critical security flaw in the player.
