Apple calls an end to “antennagate”

by Simon Aughton on September 13, 2010

iPhone antennaApple has announced that after 30 September it will stop giving away free iPhone 4 cases.

In an update to the iPhone 4 Case Program, the company says that it no longer considers problems with the phone’s antenna to be widespread.

“We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought,” Apple says.

However, for the “small percentage” of iPhone 4 users who do experience problems, the company will continue to provide a free Bumper case.

Apple will also bring an end to the extended, 30-day return period for the iPhone 4. From 1 October, users will have the company’s standard 14-days to return a handset.
