BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion has confirmed the acquisition of DataViz, developer of the Documents To Go apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Rumours of the acquisition surfaced earlier this week when DataViz cancelled a planned version of Documents To Go for Palm smartphones. So its confirmation throws doubt on the future of the iOS apps.
RIM said that will, “focus on supporting the BlackBerry platform,” but did not make any comment on its plans for other mobile platforms.
The apps allow iOS device users to read and edit Microsoft Word and Excel files and view PowerPoint presentations.
UPDATE: RIM has not acquired DataViz, merely some of its assets and personnel.
