Radio maker Pure has launched a new service that lets listeners buy any song that they hear on any radio station.
FlowSongs works on any of Pure’s internet-enabled radio sets. At the touch of a button, users can buy a song played on any digital, FM or internet radio station and either stream it from the radio or download an MP3 to a Mac or PC. Songs can also can be streamed from and organised into playlists at Pure’s thelounge.com website, though this has some issues with Safari.
Tracks are individually priced, usually between 79p and £1.29 depending on the record label, and are delivered by 7Digital, an established digital music retailer.
“FlowSongs is a unique and easy-to-use cloud-based music service that delivers a bridge between radio, which is the most popular way of discovering new music, and the ability to own that music,” says Colin Crawford, Pure’s director of marketing.
FlowSongs will be available from 16 August as a public beta with a free 90-day trial an international roll out taking place later in the year.
7Digital is also behind HMV’s new download store, which launched at the end of July.
