Apple has fixed two serious security vulnerabilities that allowed hackers free access to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Updates for both iOS 4 and iOS 3, for the iPad, ensure that viewing a PDF document with maliciously crafted embedded fonts will no longer allow arbitrary code execution and that malicious code running as the user may not gain system privileges.
The flaw was exploited by the iPhone Dev Center to jailbreak iOS devices using nothing more than a suitably-customised PDF hosted on the web.
Both updates are available through iTunes.
