Apple’s new Mac Pro is now available, boasting a 50% performance hike in configurations that can run on up to 12 processor cores.
Unveiled last month, the Intel Xeon-powered machines are designed to be highly configurable — Apple says that there are over a billion possible variations — though the company does simplify matters by offering three basic setups, starting at £1,999 (incl. VAT) for a quad core model and rising to £3,999 for a 12-core monster.
July also saw Apple introduce upgraded iMacs , a 27-inch display, which has yet to ship, and two new accessories — the Magic Trackpad and Battery Charger.
