The iPad will be available in nine more countries from the end of this week, suggesting that Apple is ramping up production of the hard-to-find tablet. Apple will start selling iPads in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore from Friday, July 23, taking the total number of countries where it’s available to 19.
Currently Apple says customers in the first 10 must wait between seven- to 10-days for delivery of any of the six iPad models, which were in short supply almost as they first went on sale.
Also in short supply — if supply is the right word — is the iPhone 4, for which Apple is currently quoting a three-week waiting time. And it has yet to say when the white models will be available, having warned on 24 June that “challenging” manufacturing problems meant they wouldn’t be ready until the second half of this month.
