Apple has announced that it will repair or replace faulty Time Capsules sold in the first part of 2008.

The company says that some Time Capsules sold between approximately February 2008 and June 2008 may not power on or may shut down unexpectedly after starting up.

Serial numbers for the affected units fall in the range XX807XXXXXX – XX814XXXXXX. The serial number is located on a grey strip on the bottom of the device.

An Apple Retail Store or an Authorized Service Provider (AASP) can transfer your data from the affected Time Capsule to a replacement unit if required.

Anyone who has previously paid for a repair or replacement of an affected unit should contact Apple for a refund.

Why would Apple need to issue a recall? The iPhone 4′s problem is not health related which would be needed to initiate a recall. The iPhone 4′s problem is only effecting a relatively small amount of people, its just the bloggers and media make it seem such worse than it really is.
And its hard to base facts of a poll as iPhone haters or non-iPhone Users would be inclined to check the ‘having problems’ box because the want to lure people away from the iPhone. It’s better not to use the results of a poll to prove a significant point.
While I love their products, I do hope Apple steps up on this one.
