|
|
Hi all,
Jusy thought I would post about the batteries in some of the Macbook pro 15"
I bought mine in March and accidently stumbled across the news that the battery was not up to the standard apple expect and are offering free replacements for anyone who has a macbook pro 15" with the dodgy battery. It affects mainly those purchased between february and may I think but you can check the serial number on your laptop battery to confirm if its one of the dodgy ones.
My battery was one of them so my new one is on the way!
If I had not accidently stumbled on the information I would not have known, hence the post!
If you have one of these go to
https://support.apple.com/macbookpro15/batteryexchange/index.html
and tap in your details to see if you are due a better battery.

| Yes, thats where I stumbled across it. Very grateful, I just feel sorry for the thousands of people who won't know this site is here and never see the article so will never know that they can get a better battery because, I do have to say the current battery is useless lasting only a short time before a recharge is necessary. |

Be prepared for a long wait to get your free replacement though. My Powerbook G4 was affected by the Sony battery recall, filled in the form which said it could take 4-6 weeks to get your replacement. That was over 6 weeks ago now, still no battery. In the meantime, I'm having to run it on mains only, with the battery out, which kind of limits your portability somewhat!
The MacBooks' battery recall might not be as widespread as the Powerbook/iBooks so the wait might not be as long as that hopefully! _________________ *

I guess I was just lucky. I registered within a couple of days of the replacement programme being announced and received the replacement 3 weeks later.
However, just last night I noticed something worrying. I ran the PowerBook on battery until it went to sleep. I left it that way, planning to plug it in this morning. However, this morning, I found that it was no longer asleep, having shut itself down and I had to boot from cold. I don't remember that happening before. _________________ ®ø®¥
