Hacked Apple apps offered for download 10:37AM, Wednesday 2nd November 2005
Apple's Front Row and Photo Booth applications have been made available for any Mac user to download and install - but not by Apple.

The website McMac has made the software available to download although the site is currently down, with a notice that this is due to capacity problems because of demand for the software.

It is entirely possible that it might not return, as McMac's blog reports that the site's author, Aaron, has received an email from Apple threatening legal action.

Aaron adds that the software has been tested on a number Macs including Mac Mini, older iMacs, PowerBooks, iBook, Power Macs and Intel Macs.

The two applications are only officially available with the new iMac and are activated using an infrared remote control. The 'hacked' software does not use the remote, but is instead driven by the keyboard.
