CNN pulls Jobs heart attack story after Apple denial 3:44PM, Friday 3rd October 2008
Apple has categorically denied that Steve Jobs has had a heart attack, prompting the withdrawal of the story from CNN’s citizen journalism website iReport.

The company moved quickly to debunk the claim, which caused a sharp but brief drop in its share price.

“It is not true,” Katie Cotton, vice president of Worldwide Communications, told Silicon Alley Insider.

The report cited an insider who said that Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, ”was rushed to the ER just a few hours ago after suffering a major heart attack”. It insisted that while the source wanted to remain anonymous, “he is quite reliable”.

Not so, Apple insists, now well used to having to field speculation about Jobs’ health.
