Ampersand delays 24Mbps broadband launch
9:59AM, Thursday 28th August 2008
Andrews & Arnold has had to delay the launch of its up-to 24Mbps ADSL2+ broadband service because BT Wholesale’s systems for its 21st Century Network (21CN) cannot cope with the ampersand in the ISP’s name.
A&A was planning to move around 5% of its customers to 21CN at the beginning of September, having installed all the necessary equipment and enabled the links to BT. But it has been delayed by what BT described as “Some XML issues during the ordering process” that amounted to an inability to recognise the & character.
“It is crazy something as simple as our company name is causing such a delay,” said A&A director Adrian Kennard, who now expects the service to launch later in the month.
BT said that it is working closely with the ISP to fix the problem.
