Del.icio.us becomes Delicious 11:42AM, Friday 1st August 2008
Del.icio.us is no more. The social bookmarking site has relaunched at delicious.com, the simplified name just one of a number of changes to the Yahoo-owned service.

The reason for the name and domain change is simple.

"We've seen a zillion different confusions and misspellings of 'del.icio.us' over the years (for example, 'de.licio.us', 'del.icio.us.com', and 'del.licio.us'), so moving to delicious.com will make it easier for people to find the site and share it with their friends," the Delicious Team explains on its blog.

The old del.icio.us domain and all its URLs will still work - redirecting to the new address.

Once there you'll find a new look, faster site built on a new, more scalable infrastructure, and with an overhauled search that returns results in seconds rather than minutes. The redesign is intended to keep the "spirit" of the previous interface, but make it easier for new users to learn.
