Apple fluffs MobileMe switch 8:20AM, Friday 11th July 2008
Apple warned that .Mac subscribers would be without online services for six hours while it switched them over to MobileMe. Almost 24 hours after the switch was due to be completed, MobileMe services have yet to appear.

The new me.com website appears from time to time, though none of the web apps it contains are accessible. Of greatest concern perhaps is that some scheduled iDisk backups will have failed. Desktop email, however, has continued to function throughout.

In a note on the .Mac/MobileMe support page, Apple says only that the transition is taking longer than expected.

The latest status update notes that all of the following services are now available: email, iDisk, syncing, iChat, Back to My Mac, Web Gallery and iWeb sites.

According to a post on the company's own support forums, Apple's engineers expect the switch to be completed some time today.

As a consequence of the delay, the company appears to have withdrawn the MobileMe software update for OS X 10.5.4 that it released yesterday. The update provides "general system fixes that enhance your Mac for MobileMe", such as changing .Mac references to MobileMe, and replacing icons. Currently that patch is not appearing in Software Update.

Apple has managed to publish a series of support articles about the new services.
