Adobe triples Mac Flash speed 12:19PM, Thursday 3rd July 2008
Adobe is making significant improvement to the performance of Flash content on OS X, as it completed work on the next release of the Flash Player browser plugin.

According to Adobe engineer Tinic Uro, the latest beta version of Flash Player 10 "should be up to three times faster".

"We have identified the bottleneck in the Flash Player for OSX. Like in the other plugins the culprit is text rendering," he explains.

On his Mac Pro, Flash performance jumped from 8.5fps to 28fps in Safari (26 in Firefox).

Flash Player 10 provides new support for custom filters and effects, native 3D transformation and animation, extensible rich text layout and GPU hardware acceleration and you can grab the latest beta from adobe.com/go/astro.
