Apple denies Final Cut sale rumour 4:21PM, Thursday 1st May 2008
Apple has refuted a rumour that it wants rid of its Final Cut Studio suite of professional video and audio applications.

Apple has refuted a rumour that it wants rid of its Final Cut Studio suite of professional video and audio applications.

The rumour - some might say malicious gossip - was circulating at last month's NAB broadcast industry show and suggested that Apple wanted to sell the suite it has nurtured over the past five years.

But Richard Townhill, Apple's director of marketing for professional video applications, was unequivocal in his denial.

"I can categorically state, on the record, that is not the case," he said, noting that Apple recently sold its millionth Final Cut licence.

In fact, such is Apple's commitment to the software that it recently released Final Cut Server after a year of private beta testing.
