Designed with a new open, standards-based architecture, QPS 7 provides a shared environment for writers, designers and editors that enables collaboration on projects and the production of content for publication across mixed media.
The system includes a server that tracks all elements contributed by workgroup members as well as client applications for writers, designers, editors, and workgroup managers to work on project or publication elements. It is also designed to seamlessly integrate with existing business systems and complimentary publishing solutions, such as ad booking, page planning, and classified and wire management systems

Quark is stressing the new, open standards architecture, which is based on Java technology, true Service Oriented Architecture and Spring Framework Java/J2EE. This combination enables the development of custom installations, making QPS 7 one of the most advanced publishing systems available today, said Linda Chase, general manager of QPS for Quark.
"We are pleased to introduce QPS 7 into the market, setting a new standard for collaborative workflow systems," she said. "With QPS7 we have built an open system that enables our partners to quickly deliver reliable publishing solutions that help their customers manage their demanding workflows."
QPS 7 also supports industry-standard database systems and has been certified with HSQL and Microsoft SQL. It also includes a Web Editor based on QuarkXPress Server 7, Quark's core publishing technology. This enables the export of content in a variety of formats - including PDF and XML, as well as full-size previews and thumbnails of QuarkXPress layouts and QuarkCopyDesk files.
